our mission
We have
a mission to
help people meet Jesus and live the lives they're designed to live.
help people meet Jesus and live the lives they're designed to live.
While our church name may be unique, the main thing that drives our mission isn’t. We’re here because of the gospel. We’re here to talk about the gospel. We’re here to see the gospel do what only the gospel can do- save people and change lives. From the songs we sing to the sermons we preach, we aim to make (and keep) the gospel the main thing in everything we are and in everything we do.
1 Corinthians 15:3-6; Mark 1:14-15
It’s not just a cute cliche or a catchy church tagline, we believe life together is essential to the lives we’re designed to live. So, isolation and uniformity won’t be celebrated here. Although it’s messy and inconvenient, we prioritize our togetherness. Although it's often uncomfortable and at times painful, we embrace our differences because when we're in Jesus, our differences make us better. After all, our aim isn’t easy and it’s not to go somewhere fast. Our aim is to go further together than we could go by ourselves.
Genesis 2:18; Ecclesiastes 4:9-12; 1 Corinthians 12:12-27
The next generation isn’t a tagalong or a sideshow, they're a priority. As Ed Catmull of PIXAR once said, “The easiest way to predict the future is to invent it.” That’s what we’re hoping to do. We’re inventing the future by investing into those to whom the future belongs. So, you won't catch us safeguarding the status quo or building altars to the present. We're moving forward by keeping one eye on the person in our rear view mirror. We're forming the future by way of the hope we hand down.
Matthew 18:10; Matthew 19:14
Our world should be better because we’re in it. The way Jesus put it was that we are to be “peacemakers” or “promoters and producers of God’s highest good in the lives around us.” God’s highest good, however, hinges on our generosity. Generous with what? Everything. But, time, money and energy are a great place to start. Save the well-wishes and “thoughts and prayers” for a Hallmark card. We aim to be givers and servants around here.
Acts 20:35; Matthew 5:9; Proverbs 11:24
The litmus test for our belief in God is how we act on His word. In other words, nothing illustrates how much we believe in God like how we live our lives. At MIX, we seek to magnify how wise, how mighty and how good God is by constantly moving beyond our own understanding and comfort zones in order to step into where Jesus is leading us. If our audacious faith means looking like fools, so be it. Better to look like a clown following Jesus than a king in the absence of God.
Matthew 15:28; James 2:18; 1 Corinthians 4:10
Jake and Jacky Wirth met in Ohio and have been married for eight years. Before moving to Milwaukee, they both served on staff at Adventure Church in Lewis Center, OH, where their passion for building the local church and loving people grew deeply. In 2018, Jake and Jacky followed God’s call to plant a church in Milwaukee called Brave Church. In 2021, Brave merged with MIX Church, and in January 2022, Jake stepped into the role of Lead Pastor, succeeding MIX’s founding pastors, Jon and Elizabeth Strohbusch. Jacky works full-time at Kohl’s Corporate and serves on the MIX staff in a support and administrative role. She brings both heart and hustle to all she does, playing an essential part in the life of the church. Jake and Jacky live in Wauwatosa with their two beautiful children, Ezra James and Cooper Jael. They love their city, believe in the next generation, and are passionate about seeing people experience the transforming power of Jesus.
Long before I was a pastor at a church, I attended church. And so I know just how much passion and confidence you must have towards MIX that you would consider financially contributing to the mission. Make no mistake, your money means a lot. Because of your generosity, we can continue to help people meet Jesus and live the lives their designed to live. Thank you.
